Why So Many Guys?

It is my opinion, as a female, that the Who came at a time where it just
wasn't considered acceptable for women to like such a loud and maniacal group
like the Who. The fans they established in the sixties, who went to their
concerts, were mostly male because of, I think, a cultural thing. It just
wan't considered acceptable for women. I think also that this might be
attributed to the fact that the Who were exceedingly popular with mods, a
group in which, "some weeks, girls were 'out,' and it was cissy to be seen
with them." It was obviously a predominately male crowd, and I doubt if the
Who's audiences ever outgrew that. I do think it's both sad and lame that 90%
of the people who attend some concerts are male, but on the other hand, I
know a great many of female Who fans-me included.
