>I think you are mistaken regarding many of the characteristics of
the Pete Townshend Limited Edition Rickenbacker. I own #226 of the
250 that were made. My guitar is painted with a red sunburst and has
no binding. The guitar has three pickups, a R tailpiece, and NO Pete
signature. The pickguard has a cartoon drawing of Pete doing a
windmill. Below the cartoon it says "Pete Townshend Limited
Edition. The O in Townshend is filled in to look like one of Keith's
target shirts. You are right on concerning the f-hole<
I apparently AM mistaken. Mea culpa. The Rickenbacker Pete Townshend I have
is a prototype (don't EVEN ask how I came to own it) and apparently they made
some changes along the way. Truth be told, I never saw an actual production
model--I just ASSUMED it was the same as the proto. Here are the changes
they apparently made between the prototype and the production model:
Color: Brown ("Tobacco-burst)/Red ("Fireglow")
Binding: Double cream/none
Pickups: two/three
Tailpiece: '60s era "X" stop/"R"
Logo: Cartoon w/ signature/Cartoon w/ "Pete Townshend Limited Edition"
Sorry to have caused any confusion.
All I need is a red guitar, three chords and the truth. . .
