Re: Woodstock cameramen

^^I put this down to cameramen and/or editors who simply didn't know
^^the Who's material well enough to know the key changes in the songs
^^when Pete was likely to do a high split or other athletic maneuver.

In defense of editors (which I'm one of) and Martin Scorsese (one of
the Woodstock movie's main editors), The Who in their prime would have
been incredibly difficult to edit. I was fortunate enough to see them
before Moon's untimely departure. If you had been there with a
camera, you wouldn't have known where to point it. It was like
watching Barnum & Bailey's three-ring circus (four if you count John's
lightning bass runs). If you watched Pete's windmills, you missed
Roger's mike twirling. If you watched Roger's mike twirling, you
missed Moon's antics back at the drum kit. This overwhelmingly visual
approach was a large part of what made The Who a popular live act.

P.S. For you trivia buffs, name another time Scorsese (along with the
great Thelma Shoonmaker) edited to Who music
