Hard to say what the correct behaviour at a rock concert is. The Quadrophenia
show was, of course, a masterpiece from an artistic point of view and therefore
would have deserved nothing but silence, admiration, and awe from the audience.
But do you really think that an audience like this would have pleased Pete?
After all, Quadrophenia is not only a piece of art, it is also very emotional
and rocks all over...

Rock performers (and especially Pete) need some feedback from the audience to
fill their shows with the excitement we like. Therefore it is IMHO more than
correct to dance and to sing along with the main choruses. That's what I did
during most of songs except for `Quadrophenia', `Drowned' (which I still don't
like in its acoustic version), and `The Rock' where I just kept silent and
motionless and payed respect to the artistic value of the show.

Certainly, I agree with you that singing along with whole songs in way too loud
a voice without really knowing the lyrics or hitting the notes is nothing but
disgusting and might spoil other people's enjoyment of the show. But hopefully
none of us Who listers did so, right? :-)

Cheers,

Bernd
