Be on the "look out" for two things:

a) a hand (not yours) going into your pocket

b) a knife going into your back

NEVER expose money to the public on NYC street unless you are really
confident you know what you're doing...

Oh, and while you're at it, beware of "squeegy men" trying to clean your
glasses...
