Mr. Fang`s discussion with MCA, plus questions to the group...

Once again, thanks! It's not a matter of kissing up to Mr. Fang to
say I think he probably represented the majority of concerns very well,
and that can't help but have a positive effect. Adding bonus tracks/live
stuff to Who By Numbers would make it more attractive to me, as after
Quad the appeal of Who studio albums to me drops way way off... I'm not sure
from the report whether or not adding live stuff to Who By Numbers was
a consideration, but anyhoo, sounds like sooner or later the live
retrospective will come out too...

I know people are tempted to want to stir things up with MCA just BECAUSE
Fang said not to, but sometimes letting things go (i.e. leaving it
the hell alone!) may end up having the best effect. The guy probably knows
how to deal with these folks better than most, (though I'm sure some out there
can do just as well), so if one person has already made most of the valid
points, why not just see where that leads things?

O.K. fine on that. I lent Quad to a fellow worker here, and he noticed
the radical change in sound quality from Dr. Jimmy to the Rock. Something's
amiss there, definitely, on Dr. Jimmy.

I do hear the tape start up on 5:15. Actually, there are two, perhaps more.
One at around 8 to 9 seconds in; the other at almost 12 seconds in....
It's not part of the railway sounds. Most assuredly. Personally, I don't
consider it a flaw; nor the enhanced Moon yelling. It all adds to it, in
my opinion. I like finding all that stuff. Proves to me I still have
hearing. At least some left.

Having given the thing about six listens all the way through, my only
BIG complaint is Dr. Jimmy. I guess I missed it, but what are the
big beefs about I'm the One? Also, did or didn't they have all the original
studio tapes with which to work?

Finally, there are VCRs which can play all modes of video tapes, so can
we do a "tape tree" of IOW? Also, will it be on laserdisc? etc. etc.
No, I don't wanna violate copyright stuff, etc. Not that we're given
any damned choice in the matter, i.e., an ntsc original!!!
