Re[2]: Who By Numbers

Fang is right. I doubt that Pete has the animosity anymore
about the Who. New Who material is simply not a part of
Pete's life. I just don't think he can write Who material
anymore. He tried in 81 and 82 and it made little impact on
the fans. How many times on this listserv have we said how
much, overall, the we don't like FD and IH? Lots! He knows
that that part of his creative life is over. Roger and John
have some animosity, it appears, because Pete won't do the
Who, and so won't let them have the limelight anymore. Roger
and John realize that their best vehicle as performers is
the Who, and to do the Who they have to have Pete. Maybe
John's tour will rekindle interest in his work (does he yet
have a record contract? I forget.). Roger continues to do
other things. I can't see any sense in doing another Who
album. I can't imagine it'd be anything other than
disappointing; maybe if Pete would do it and sound convinced
that it's what he wants to do...

Without going into too many details, it's not Pete who has the "animosity and
bitterness about the group". If he did, he wouldn't be so heavily involved in
the reissue process. On the other hand, in Pete's current lifestyle, The Who
just doesn't fit. As much as I love The Who, in many ways, I can't blame
him...
