Yikes.  What a bleak prospect.  Do your thing, get good at it, become
successful, and be labeled a sellout.  Feh.  It's only a "sell out" if you
_stop_ doing your thing for money and do someone else's thing, i.e. their
version of what your thing should be.

Not to mention that The Who dealt explicitly with the question on their
album by the same name.  To paraphrase David Bowie: "these bands that you
spit on...are immune to your consultations / they're quite aware of what
they're going through."
