The Who 1989

The Who's 1989 "Nostalgia" tour was pretty much just that. If you want to
say that Bolton did not fit in, the same holds true for the whole band. The
horns did not belong there, the percussionist did not belong there (and she
is quite excellent and an expatriot of the USA) and that overplaying
bombastic simon phillips and the Takamines that Pete was playing were
hardly worthy. This was not a who tour. it was a bunch of guys who did a
fair job a sounding and looking like the who, occasionaly Though roger was
drowned out more often than not. All this aside there were some really nice
moments. The sets at Giant Stadium as well as Radio City opened with a good
chunk of tommy as the sun was beginning to set and the performances were
quite good. The who and pete have been imitating themselves for quite
sometime now. Of course, it goes without saying, that this is all in my
own, pitiful opinion. Long live Rock, Rock is dead they say...
