PT release dates and other shit

Hello, Everybody!!

Just wanted to let you all know that I spoke with the Consumer Relations Group
of Atlantic Records in NYC. According to them, the two PT re-releases, "Empty
Glass" and "Chinese Eyes", have been pushed back to Tuesday, November 21.
Also, and probably most importantly, the PT "Greatest Hits" CD has now been
scheduled for release on Tuesday, April 9, 1996. There was no track
information available for any of the three releases. I'm hoping that Atlantic
has the good sense to add the b-sides from each album's singles. Those B-sides
are:

Empty Glass B-sides (1980): Classified, Greyhound Girl

Chinese Eyes B-sides (1982): Man Watching, Dance It Away

They could even throw "Ascension Two", PT's track from the WOMAD double-lp
set.

Now, I want to address a few other topics:

1) Almost all the posts that talk about the 2-CD bootleg of the Boston 4/1/76
show refer to the CD's title as "Behind Blue Eyes". It's truly funny, but I
thought it was call "Behind BLIND Eyes". I took a good, long at the CD at a
recent record show. It's definitely "BLIND", not "BLUE". I guess we're so used
to the title by now that we just assume it's Blue Eyes. Not so, people. (I
think it's kinda hilarious that, given that we WHOlisters are such sticklers
for detail (the Rolling Rock debacle, for example), almost EVERYONE missed the
"Blind" and "saw" "Blue" instead!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
(Ya know, I slay me, sometimes.......) :):):):):):):):):):)

2)RE: "Young Man Blues": If you want to hear a damn-near "definitive" YMB,
look no further than the new boot CD "Pure Rock Theatre". Just incredible!!!
Pete's solos are the highlight here, with his SG/HiWatt combo absolutely
screamin' (you out there, Jeff Williams???). Also, it was great to see Marc
Lewkowicz get a mention on the list. People, this guy is such a cool "cat".
He's from Toronto, (eh?) and I had the pleasure of not only attending 6 PT
solo shows in 1993 with him, but he also stayed with me during that tour for a
few days. We've been friends ever since, although we've only had sporadic
contact in the past 1 1/2 years. If anybody on the list talks to him, please
tell him that Marty Secero sends his VERY best!!!! (I'll probably call him
soon....)

3) Jeff Williams: I work in Marketing/ Channel Management here at AT&T. And
while I appreciate the good word about Maxim, NJ is where I want to stay!!!
And I'm glad that SOMEONE on the list is knowledgeable about the WHO's stage
equipment. We spend so much time on lyrical, spiritual and personal content
sometimes that we lose sight of the fact that the WHO are/were MUSICIANS, and
musicians channel their creativity through their INSTRUMENTS AND EQUIPMENT.
And I think it's important to keep this fact in mind: Before Pete was a
Broadway composer, a spiritual guru, a "rock star", a "solo artist", he was a
struggling musician, learning chord structures and rudimentary progressions.
Thanks for the continued insight, Jeff!!! You are hereby appointed the High
Priest of HiWatt!!!!!! I'd love to jam with you one day.....

4) RE: The "infamous" Chicago 1993 PT show I referred to in a prior post: In
both TV and print interviews given after the 1993 solo tour, Pete went on
record saying that the Chicago show 7/17/93 was the worst show of the tour
because he was totally and completely smashed. He stated this fact in a Guitar
World interview (July or Aug. 1994), as well as on the "Rolling Stone 1993
Year-End TV special" in December 1993. I have a tape of the show in B+/A-
sound quality, and Pete's just fucking gone. At the end of "Let's Get
Pretentious" (from PsychoDerelict) he said "I can't handle this!". He
apologied for the "Shit" that the audience had to sit through. Then he
proceded to perform the longest version of "Save It For Later" ever (over 13
minutes!!!). IMHO, stunts like that constitute true abuse of an audience.

5) Jeff Winterich: Your tapes will most definitely be on the way tomorrow Weds
10/18!!!! Thanks again, buddy!! Memphis 1975 is truly orgasmic. And judging
from the sound quality of your "Behind Blue (tee hee--I mean Blind) Eyes" CD
boot, I think I'll just keep your tape..thanks for saving me $40-50!

6) Cathy Ridley: I should get the WHO Convention stuff from my Howard Beach,
NY friend by the weekend. When I get it, I will send your shirt out
immediately. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for the delay.

7) Lastly, there's been a lot of loose talk on this list lately (a collective
groan from the masses). Frankly, it's all bullshit. Friendly discussion and
debate is one thing, but enough with the put-downs, the can-you-top-this?
assinine behavior. We're ADULTS, and we all have our love of the WHO in
common. That fact ALONE should guarantee that we would treat each other with a
modicum of respect. There are not many people who love the WHO as much as we
on the list do. Let's keep that in mind from here on in. A long while back, I
found myself the target of much debate and consternation on the list. And I
listened to most of the feedback I got from you all. I took from it what I
needed, changed my approach where appropriate, and moved on.
Also, I wish to make a point to those on the list who feel the impulsive need
to send their responses to certain posts to the ENTIRE list. Lately, these
responses have been 1-2 sentences at the most. I know it's a free country,
world, et.al. out there, but it's like pollution of our list here, people. A
few points of advice: First, if you respond to someone's general post, please
respond DIRECTLY to that person unless the post is one of general subject
matter. Second, try to combine responses onto one "blanket" response. There
are less messages to wade through, and you as a WHOlister appear more
organized in your thought processes (even if you might be a blathering
idiot:):):):)). Also (and this is aimed at only 1 or 2 of us), don't assume
that every post needs a witty reply, or that the rest of the WHOlisters care
to hear every "deep WHO thought" that you may have. I think it's fair to say
that some of the recent posts reek of ELITISM. Elitists on this list be
warned: we won't stand for any of that shit.

And lastly, leave my kitten (I mean the Beatles) alone, OK? Without John,
Paul, George and Ringo, popular music as we know it would simply not exist.
Nuff Said.

OK, I'm outta here!!!!!! Thanks for listening!
