Allsorts...

Greetings to the venerable legions of Who fans from a first-time
poster:

Just decloaking to present a topic I hadn't seen discussed here
(at least recently). What seems to be the opinion out there on
the Quad soundtrack (now available on CD from Polydor)?

Every now and then I relisten to it just to compare the remixed
classics with the original versions, not to mention the new
Who songs composed for the film. Any comments?

Personally, I always thought the three new songs were not quite
up to the level of the original -- big shoes to be sure,
however. It might be argued, thought, that Pete was writing some
of his best material at the same time and was in top form. Or
maybe he'd spent much of his creative energies on other endeavors
of the period, like Empty Glass.

On another subject: Thought I'd also say I've got one of the
cardboard TKAA standups. It's safely tucked away in a closet,
awaiting the day there's a safe place to display it. It's a nice
piece of memorabilia if anyone has a chance to pick one up (got
mine in Goldmine, the source of much Who promo stuff, including
the WBN handheld game and the JAE brass whistle that has a
"ENT" sticker on it.)

And a last comment: If a Who fanzine does get started up soon,
I'll volunteer my services as a copy editor if anyone needs one
(it's what I used to do for a living).

Cheers.
