The Who Live

          Mark L. recently made a comment about how he loved even
          rough recordings of the Who, such as rough boots, etc.

          This got me to thinking--one of the things I really love
          about listening to live Who material is that their live
          music is such a departure from their studio material. When
          you hear the Who live, it's not like hearing them re-do
          their studio stuff, which is the case with so many bands;
          Who songs live are actually different songs. Sorry if this
          doesn't make sense. I think it comes down to that their
          stage show featured one guitarist, usually without keyboard
          support. Yet much of their albums feature several guitar
          parts with keyboards. Listening to a Who show means never
          quite knowing ahead of time what you're gonna get. I really
          like that!
