I agree with all that stuff except to say: 1) I didn't think the sound quality on the original album
(O.K. I only ever had the German pressing) was half-bad - it worked for me.... I always rate playing
way way above sound quality.  Audiophiles ought to go out and get a musical life.  Bootlegs have been
my creative food for guitar playing for years.  And the Hiwatt/SG combo is more than just going out and
getting it.  The original Hiwatt and SG were merely blank slates that a whole sound was modified into....
Don't be fooled by the physical setup.  

2) I always liked Townshend's lead playing. He is actually much better today, but he only does decent runs at 
the rave ups of songs now.  I know is lead playing has always been underrated, but much of it is
inimitable.
