So I just get a call from one of my best friends.  He works for a major 
booking agency in NYC and last night he went to see Bob Mould (of Husker 
Du and Sugar) perform in a club in Manhattan.  I spoke with my friend 
last night before he went out and told him I just picked up the new Live 
at Leeds and held the phone out so he could hear it blasting in the 
background.  Anyway, he was completely juiced because he had a VIP pass 
for the Mould show and new he would be in the VIP section (wherever that 
is...the front or the side of the stage I suppose.  So he calls me and 
tells me that the VIP section had about 4 people standing in it and about 
1/3 of the way through the first set he finally looks over and 5 feet 
away is Pete Townshend jumping up and down (dancing around).  He was 
pretty excited about this...this is my friend who turned me on to the Who 
back when we were 14.  Anyway, he thought about getting an autograph for 
me but figured that might be kind of cheesy (I agree) and just enjoyed 
the rest of the show right next to Pete.  Said he was wearing a funky 
hat, like a beret...also said he was really into the music and was 
jumping all around.  So Pete is in NYC checking out the music scene...my 
friend heard that PT was buying an apartment in Letterman's building and 
would be spending a lot of time in the city.  Perhaps some of us may bump 
into him this year!!??!!
