Quick thoughts about Sell OutSun Dec 7 12:47:04 PST 1997

Thanx to Ian ( and everyone else) who has retyped the recent reviews about
the reissues. I remember buying Sell Out 15 years ago when I first started
getting involved with The Who's music. After putting the needle on the
record several hundred times that week I recall thinking that in some way
the music seemed ahead of its time for 1967 though the concept seemed
timely. Now in retrospect, after putting the beam on the disc several
hundred times over the past month or so, this is just a great CD. What does
it for me is the fact that its fun to listen to, the musical content is
exceptional (songwriting, arrangement, etc.), and its different from
anything ever put out before. The music is satisfying in a way that you can
really jam and crank the tunes without being to serious or having to get
emotionally involved to get anything out of it. Sell Out is pure genius and
is definitely the best album of its time if not one of the best of the
band's carrer.
