Tommy - the Amazing Journey

Hi, folks!

Just a note to proclaim that I *finally* had a chance to watch "Tommy - The
Amazing Journey" and enjoyed it very much.

Not a *whole* lot of new information, but I really liked watching the spots
with PT and Des McAnuff (sp?) and the many live clips of the boys onstage.

Curious parallels drawn by PT about his own childhood and Tommy, especially
his discovery of his parents' separation, when he was farmed out to his
gramdma: "who was certifiably insane, and treated me very strangely..."

I was intrigued by the clips from the Broadway show. I may see it someday,
but I'm skeptical. I think I prefer my original album to all the other
"interpretations." PT said that there certainly was a Tommy that was 50%
Daltrey and 50% the Who, but there was also a Tommy that was 50% Pete
Townshend and 50% the Who. I wonder if he now thinks that there is a Tommy
that is 50% PT and 50% Des McAnuff?

Anyway, if you haven't seen it, trot on down to the vid store and rent it.

Have a good weekend, everybody!

PT: "I said, 'No F*CKING DANcing! There won't be ANY F*CKING DANcing!!'"
DM: "So I said, 'How 'bout some...rhythmic walking...?'"
PT: "I said, 'NO F*CKING RYTHmic WOLKing, and NO F*CKING DANcing...!'"

aahh... Pete, we love ya! :)
