WGFA?

Last night I listened to Who's Better Who's Best (my first Who
CD) for the first time in well over a year, maybe two. WGFA came on
and I noticed there was something different about it, then all of a
sudden the song ended with no drum solo and with Daltrey's scream in the
wrong place. I looked at the running time of the song and it was only
3:37 (are you kidding?). The liner notes even have the nerve to call it
an "extended version."
Was this the version that was origianally released as a single or
was it a special version just for this CD? I noticed in the discography
included with the box set that it says an "edited version" was released
in June 25, 1971. Is this pathic version on Who's Better Who's
Best that same "edited version" or was this some sort of radio version
or what?

BTW, did everybody see the obituary(spelling?) for Nicky Hopkins in
the latest Rolling Stone (R.E.M. on cover)? I didn't know he was such a big
shot.
