who's next etc.

Hi guys,

It's been some time since I last mailed the wholist, I've been busy
trying to get a modem connection (so I can e-mail from home) to work. I
bet you're all interested!

But I've read the latest digests, and I think it's always interesting to
discuss new CD-releases, or even speculate in future ones.

Mark Walters:
>It adds that Who's Next will be next in line - additional
>tracks being "Pure and Easy" (the unissued take recorded with Al Kooper and
>Leslie West), Naked Eye, Join Together and Time Is Passing (it implies this
>is a Who rendition).

We discussed this a month or two back; What a rerelease of "Who's Next"/
Lifehouse should look like or contain. It seems this CD is sort of a compromise
of the alternatives we talked about. Not that I think that anyone would
care much about what we said. Nevertheless, the choice of extra tracks is
certainly surprising.

1st	What version of "Pure&Easy" is this? It can't be the one on the "From
Lifehouse to Leeds" CD, because it has neither extra guitar nor any
keyboards. It could be of course that they've hidden tracks during the
	mix of fLtL.

On the other hand, "Baby don't you do it" on the same CD does feature a
Leslie West type guitar and an electric piano, is this what they mean?

2nd	The inclusion of "Naked Eye" is also strange. Was this a Lifehouse song?
Is this a different studio version than the one released? Was it
recorded during the "Who's Next sessions?

In Generations #10 there's information that _a_ "Naked Eye" was recorded
on the 5th of June 1971.

3rd	If it's the released version of "Join Together" from '72, then it's
also a bit odd. This song has a completely different pace than any of
the others on "Who's Next" as many of the songs recorded in '72 had
("Relay", "Put the Money Down" etc.) I don't think it fits in. I'd
rather have "Let's see action" for instance. But HEY that's me...

4th	"Time is passing" is an interesting extra track - it's rare - but
there are other tracks that are better IMHO.

As I said earlier, I would prefer a Lifehouse box before an extended
"Who's Next". But I guess this is where the money's at.

Fill me in on the queries if you can. I'd appreciate a little enlightenment.

and...

Semi:
>I'm from Europe. I thing few others in this list are from the Europe too...
>Does anyone know about something happening here?
>Or I've got no chance in this...

Well, you can join my club: "People who get left out because the Who only
tours America and who can't afford a ticket to get there" -

I really hope that Roger does one or two shows in England at least, then I'd
think about it. Some years ago it seemed that Europeans were lucky because
CD-bootlegs were easier to find over here. But now they seem to be released
only in the USA. But maybe I just don't look hard enough.

So... The action is in Europe... - NOT!
