Decade of the Who
I have a copy of this book published in 1977 by Fabulous
Music (PT's music publishing company), and have found it to
be a great addition to my Who library.
It covers the period 1965-175; here's a brief summation of
the contents:
** the usual obligatory fanzine personal stats on each
member (complete with childhood photos and a brief interview
with an old schoolmaster)
** a number of short but informative interviews, including
one with Pete Meaden on the early Mod movement and the part
The Who played; PT on the writing of My Generation; Artist
John Davis, whose works appear throughout the book; Steve
Turner (don't know who this guy is) on 'Tommy;' Roger
Daltrey on 'Tommy;' John Entwistle on standing still...
** most importantly, the book has sheet music for many of
the songs from this period, annotated by PT. If you're a
musician interested in playing the songs corectly, the notes
are invaluable. Non-musicians would also be interested as
the notes provide yet another glimpse into PT's brain.
If you can find a copy, this book is well worth the price
(I paid $9.95 for mine about 1980... sigh...)! The picture
of PT on p. 224 is worth the price alone.
OK,
