Misfires

A couple of months ago my check engine light came on blinking.  I went it,
it was a cyl 6 misfire.  No idea why.

It happened again, same instance.  I'm leaving the parking lot at work and
floor it, and it comes on.  (I'll stop doing that.)  Assuming it's another
misfire, I have two questions:

1)  Will the light clear itself eventually?
2)  Any common causes?
