Everyone will have their own opinion on what "harsh" is to them. This is
why I suggested finding other modded VW's and go for a test drive instead of
spending $500-$1000 and being very dissappointed in your purchase.

I have to totally disagree. I have Bilstein sports with SLC rear springs
and Shine 200# front. It is FAR from harsh. 800# springs make the car feel
like a cut down Honda, not Bilsteins.

I have to say that the key to daily comfort is to run an adjustable damper
set up. I have the Koni coil overs and always recommend them. The ride is
very liveable, way more so then the H&R coils many of the guys in my club
have. I run the GLX down 4" and my girlfriend can fall asleep in the
car....and stay that way while on NY roads. This is perhaps the best
testament around. If you are going with a spring and shock combo, i would
stay away from Bilstein unless you want to have the change in your ashtray
jump out on most bumps. Instead, use the H&R springs with a Koni adjustable
shock so that you can tune them for your own comfort/performance
preference. The Cup Kit is a good choice for low running without going for
coils, but you mentioned not wanting the car to be dumped, so it may not be
for you. Like anything, you do get what you pay for, so Skunkworks coil
over sleeves and Toykio shock are not the way to go. I was able to get a
deal on the Koni CO's and it cost me $40 more then the spring/shock combo I
was originally looking at, so take your time, shop around, and most
importantly, get a ride in as many different cars as you can with the
various suspension set ups you are considering....
