No reason not to get the race, less body roll than sports, and firmer ride. 
Decent roads? Hell, what's that? Around here (Chicago area) all we have are 
potholes, and pothole patches, and I'm very pleased with my race/Koni setup.  
Your VR6 won't need the camber plates, just get it aligned 1/16 toe-out and 
as close to -2 camber as possible (probably wind up in the -1.4 to -1.6 
neighborhood), and you're good to go. It'll turn in like a mofo, so be 
prepared for it, particularly if you have a front stress bar.

You'll love it.

Are the Bilstein Sports adjustable? If so, you might want to look into the 
Konis - adjustable and a LOT less $.
