The noise was there before I replaced the belt. That was actually part of the reason I replaced it. I'm not reall sure if it would be the power steering, only because it only happens at start-up, while the car is sitting idle. I was wondering if it could be something like the oil or water pump. Maybe it is the alternator. But why would it only happen at start-up?

#1.  If you go to the deal, get the chip out of the car.  they will screw
you on the warranty if the chip is in there.  if it really is in the front
right, the alternator is a logical choice since it is right there.  was it
squealing before the new belt?  belt too tight?

is the power steering pump in the front right?  i never really looked for it
but I thought it was in the rear of the compartment, near the steering
column.

My wife's '95 does the same thing.  Stock chip.  I have wondered if it had
something to do with the power steering?
