Sounds like you want to keep stock ride height.  I would suggest
getting a set of Bilstein HD struts/shocks.  You can get a pretty
good deal from shox.com  or  parts4vws.com

I used to run Bilstein Sports, which definitely stiffened the ride,
but those were paired up with aftermarket sport lowering springs.

I am in the mood to swap out my stock struts to stiffen up my ride. I
have been looking at Bilstein.  My car has retained her stock springs so
