I dunno, Kevin. They may be equivalent in many ways, but the primary 
thing for me is the size of the car. In my opinion the Audi A4 is 
about the size of the Jetta. Interior seating room in the Audi A4 is 
about as cramped as any Jetta. The Passat has nicer legroom in the 
back, as does the A6.

The A4 and the Passat may share some technologies/platforms/engines, 
etc. but in my mind, when someone wants a "Passat-style" car, they're 
asking for a midsize (not compact) 4 door sedan. When he specified 
the 2.7TT, the bells went off in my A6 2.7T detector lobe of my 
brain, and that's where the statement came from.
