Here's the tape method. Kills the DRL's, and leave the e-brake light
functioning. Also takes about 2 minutes, and no soldering.

1) Remove the headlight switch by pressing in, and then turning clockwise
until all dash lights come on. Then carefully pull the switch straight out
from the dash

2) Remove the switch from the wiring harness. The latches are on either side
of the switch.

3) Look at the back of the switch (where the harness used to be). Along the
bottom row of connectors, there is one marked TFL. Place a suitably small
piece of tape (I used electrical; others have used Scotch) over the contact
in such a way that it will not make a connection once the harness is
connected.

4) Connect the harness. Be careful you don't munge your tape job on the TFL
contact.

5) Slide the connected switch back into place, and turn the switch back to
its normal position.

Voila!! Dead DRLs!!

gets 15" alloys as did the '99 GLS VR6's). As far as I know the '01's will
have some new colors and, at last, there will be a sport suspension option
(Edmunds tested Jetta and GTI 1.8T's that had the pre-production version of
this suspension and they gave it good marks). 17" alloys may also be
available. I'm hoping the 24V VR6 will make its way over here, but I'm not
holding my breath. I'm also hoping that in either a GTI or Jetta that I'll
be able to get a VR6 with cloth sport seats.

New colors? That's it? That's what's gonna be freshened according to Motor

Trend? I thought it was new headlights or taillights or something? I know
I
definitely want silver. OK, it's off to the dealership for me this weekend
coming up. From what I see though, there are 2 luxury packages to choose
from. The first is called a PJ3 package which gives you the moonroof and
15"
wheels. The second called PM1 gives you the moonroof plus 16" wheels
instead
of the 15". Which one should I go with? I would love 16" wheels but I'd
rather have the 5-star design on the 15". How much of a difference is it in

ride quality? Anyone experienced the difference between the two?
My only other concern the daytime running headlamps. Can they be
disconnected?
Thanks in advance!
