Hmmm..."jerky" acceleration?

I've noticed something, and I don't know if this is new or not.  
If I am on the freeway and take my foot off the gas and then put it back
on, there is a "shudder" or a "jerk" before the power comes on.  If I
punch it - foot all the way off the gas then floor it - it bucks pretty
hard.  Is this a problem, or normal behavior?
