What if we just did it and sold them at cost to members?  Are they really
going to give us a hard time?  I think the hard part would be getting a shop
to make them without the permission.  VW should be more than happy for the
free adverts...

their symbol? 
 
What is the latitude we have when reproducing the VW symbol for personal
use? What if we altered it, so that we were within infringement laws, but we
were able to use it without permission?
