RE: Oil, Sound, and Badges!

None of this has anything to do, whatsoever with "illegal business
practices". Not to go off on a rant or anything, but it's irritating
to see people get off on tangents on how companies are doing
illegitimate things without doing any research. If anything, they are
losing money on not having cars come in as often for unpaid service
intervals.

Sorry to have irritated you. From my experience with other cars and
mechanics I've talked to, it is generally best to change your oil every 3 to
4 thousand miles. I asked about this at the dealership and was greeted with
a sly grin by their service department and was told '10k miles is suggested,
but you do what you feel comfortable with'. These two things put together
made me think VW might be carelessly putting cars in danger by telling their
customers to only change at 10k to save themsevles money. Free oil changes
or not, it just seemed questionable to me. So here was my 'research'.

Thank you for your information though. I'm glad my new car is so well put
together. =v]
