Re:

Charlie, I *JUST* did this to my 98 Jetta GLX w/Bose.

You need two things:

1. A panasonic 6-disc changer. In my area, I got it at Car Toys (Washington
state). The changer ran me $119 (but that was on sale!).

2. A VW97BPAN adapter. That probably isn't the right part number (it was
the Car Toys # printed on my receipt). This adapter ran me $35.00

The adapter is essentially a replacement cable for the panasonic one.

I STRONGLY urge you to pay the $$ to have the car stereo place install the
changer and adapter for you. The first adapter they got for mine was
miswired and destroyed the changer (smoked it right up nicely). Since they
were doing the install, they had to eat the cost of the part and the
changer. On the second try, everything worked fine. Because of the hassle,
Car Toys didn't charge me for the installation.

The total cost was $144.00. The VW version was $500 + installation.
