Re: Exhaust systems for 95 Jetta GLX

The stock VR6 exhaust is pretty efficient from the factory, so it isn't a
vital modification. By putting an aftermarket system on, you will gain some
top end power for a loss in low end torque. It all depends on where you
like your power. According to Velocity's dyno testing, the Brospeed makes
the most power, but it has no sound to it. The Techtonics sounds the
sweetest, but loses torque due to its 2 1/2" tubing. Euro Sport makes an
inexpensive quality system as well. The Remus muffler is a high quality
piece and can be used with the stock system or with the Remus cat-back
piping. I'm running an Oettinger muffler with my stock exhaust right now- I
had a Euro Sport straight over axle pipe, and it was too loud and lost too
much torque for my taste. I may have a custom mandrel bent 2 1/4" cat-back
with a pre-muffler made to hook up with the Oettinger muffler in the future.
Hope this helps at bit.
Good luck,
Doug
