DANNY SULLIVAN TO APPEAR
AT DRIVERSFEST ’99


Volkswagen of America today announced that motorsports legend and 1985
Indianapolis 500 winner Danny Sullivan will serve as a celebrity pro
driving instructor at the DriversFest ’99 Performance Driving Clinic.

For attendees of DriversFest ’99, to be held August 28 at Jones Beach,
Long Island, N.Y., it means yet another dimension will be added to an
already exciting event.  Participants will get a chance to meet Danny
and learn some performance driving pointers before taking a new
Volkswagen out on the specially-designed closed-circuit driving course.

Ranking as one of the top race car drivers in the world, Danny Sullivan
captured the hearts of many when he won the checkered flag and the 1985
Indianapolis 500 in dramatic fashion.  His 360 degree spin to victory
that Memorial Day weekend will long be remembered in the history of
international sports.

Sullivan, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, had 17 career wins and
ranked among the career leaders in race victories, poles, earnings,
winning percentages, and top five finishes.  Throughout his racing
career, he is best known for his performances in Formula One, Indy Car
and Le Mans Sports Cars.

As pro drive celebrity instructor at DriversFest '99, Danny will bring
an exciting element to this already stellar event.
