Chuck,

Unfortunately, you are incorrect.  Why VW does some things sometimes
boggles the mind.  (sane mind)  It is my understanding that all the
Cabrios at least in '98 did not come from the factory with the keyless
entry system as standard equipment.  I assisted a friend of mine when
she purchased a new '98 Cabrio and was rather surprised to find out that
was in fact the case.
