Re: The VW Jetta GLX Mailing List Digest V3 #48

I really don't think it's a problem with the paint "stretching" so to speak.
Besides, I believe VW bumpers are molded from a black plastic (anyone know
for sure?) unlike Ford's puke yellow. It is commom knowledge on the GTI-VR6
list (some of whom have the same problem) that this is rail dust. This is
due to the fact that VW's built in Mexico (obviously all of our A3's), are
transported via train, and those small little specs on the bumpers and such
are a result of the rail dust/dust from the train's braking system, etc. I
too have little tiny specs that really aren't visible unless your about 1-2
inches from the rear bumper and really staring hard to find them. Products
such as clay magic or a polish/rubbing compound or even having it buffed out
with a high-speed buffer might do the trick. If it's barely noticeable I
can's say as if it's worth it to do anything about it - I'm not too
concerned, and I'm usually pretty damn uptight about shit like that. My
first try would be a "clay magic" type cleaning product.

If anyone tries this, let us know the outcome.
