Inspection Experience

Hey there fellow Vee Dubbers,

Last weekend I went to get my car inspected, it was overdue of course,
and the high school kid that worked there told me that it wasn't gonna pass
emissions due to the P-Flo. In selected Texas citys(Houston, DFW, El Paso)
we have emission testing. Well, I pointed to the CARB plaque under my
hood(if its good enough for CA, its good enough for TX) and told him how the
P-Flo was certified and he came back with it doesn't matter this is Texas and
the state says that you have to have the factory air box. He went on to say
that a guy with a Vette had to put his stock manifold, air filter, exhaust,
etc in order to pass inspection. Then "Junior" tells me that my car wouldn't
pass with a pin hole in my headlight lens, even though I'd put a small piece
of clear tape over it to keep moisture out. He wanted 35 bucks to patch it.
After I told him to kiss my butt, I went over to another shop and the owner
said no problem and 30 minutes later I drove out with a new sticker. I'm
thinking that "Junior" might have a future as a VW service writer, he'd get a
lot of pleasure out of telling Vee Dubbers that their warranty was void due
to their mods.

Moral of the story, don't take any crap from someone over your mods,
especially if they're not old enough to vote!
