Bad part, bad news, then good news...

VW people,

Two days ago I let my father drive my Jetta GLX. He was impressed and
liked how quickly it accelerated. He guns it from a stop, goes through
first, into second and starts to shift into third. We are doing about
50-55mph and instead of putting into third, he jams it back into first. I
have never heard the engine scream this high of a pitch before... the tires
squealed as soon as 1st had been engaged. We get back to my place only to
find that it will not go backwards. I start to get really angry then. Then
we find out that it will no longer go forwards anymore. I am really angry
now. We call for a tow, and he gets it to move on to a flatbed. That was
the bad part...
The next morning (car was towed to VW dealer), we (father/me) go to the
Volkswagen dealer to see what they can do. I tell them the truth about what
happened and they said they would check it out. The guy said that they
would probably be unable to warranty it since it had been abused. I
understood totally, and my father knew that he would have to pay for the
damages. They find out that some of the teeth on the reverse gear had been
knocked off. They did not know if they would have to replace the whole
transmission or if they would be able to replace broken piece. This was the
bad news...
They call back later and tell me that even though the car had been damaged
from the abuse of the driver (good ol' dad), they would be able to warranty
the damages. I am in awe, I was really surprised that they would do this
for me. They called it the "Good Will" warranty. They said that whatever
parts/labor were required, they would do it for free. This was the
good/great/fantastic news!!!!
  My dealer rocks!!
