AP Racing, clutch - 02A

>>hey Jim... I hear that a 6 puck clutch only last about 25k-30k(with
average street driving)... and you have to replace/resurface your flywheel
too when using the 6 puck.....
is that true??

George,

In any clutch job, the flywheel should be machined for flatness. It
typically doesn't happen due to time and money. It usually gets a little
roughing with the sand paper. If you've seen/held a 228mm flywheel and it
needs to be replaced because of a clutch, there's something else wrong. I
replaced my flywheel when my transmission was being serviced for the 2nd
gear syncro. They though I was nuts wanting to replace the flywheel. They
were right, after I got the part off the car. Now I got a nice core 228mm
flywheel ($300+) in my garage, ready for a machine shop to lighten!

It's the material not the 6 puck design. I wouldn't buy an item that will
need replacing by a mechanic every 1 to 1.5 years? I think not!
