Sounds like the problem I just had with my '97 GLX. The clutch over center
spring fell out of place. It is located behind the clutch pedal, between it
and the firewall. After the reinstallation of the spring, my clutch doesn't
feel like it used to. I went to the dealer and felt a 98 GTI VR6 clutch
pedal and it feels the same as mine does now. I liked it better when it was
firm. :-)
