I need your expert advice

To all you Jetta GLX experts:

I mentioned earlier that I am looking to buy a '95 GLX, and will probably
finalize the deal tomorrow if I can get some good advice....

One problem with this car is that the alarm system will arm sometimes when
a window is opened (electric). The previous owner has had this "fixed" 3
times before, with the same problem.

Essentially what happens is you are out driving, roll the window down and
up, and the alarm light on the door lock starts blinking _sometimes._ When
you stop the car and touch the ignition or open a door the alarm goes off.
Evidently this is a problem tied to the stereo, electric door locks/alarm
system, and power windows.

I have been frantically searching for some answers to this problem, but
all I can find on the web is the generic "known to have electrical
problems statement" about this car.

My question to you:

1) What have your experiences been, and is this unusual/bad news?

2) The car has the typical drivetrain 5/50 warranty for 2nd owners, but
nothing to cover me on this problem...Should I stay away from the car?

It is a sweet machine, I've owned 2 other VW's (an 82 diesel rabbit LS,
and an 84 rabbit GTI, neither of them with alarms or power windows) and
would love to have this car. I don't know enough yet to make that final
decision, and am looking for your war stories and/or advice.

Thanks! Dave
