Head Unit

Just bought a new Panasonic head unit from Crutchfield (CQ-DP965). Hoping
this head unit will control the 6 CD Panasonic changer in the trunk. Just
wondering, for the install:
How do I get the old bose head unit out? (97' Jetta Bose 10 spkr Panasonic)
Anything else I have to do while doing the install? I remeber someone
talking about not connnecting the negative wires.
The guy at Crutchfield said I would have to change my amp if I wanted to
install the head unit, but isn't that why u can't connect the negative
wires?
