     As far as I understand synchros, they are inherantly weak because they 
     need to be made of soft material.  Traditionally they are made of 
     brass, a strudy but soft metal that eventually will wear out.  My 
     understanding it that the O2A transmision uses synchros that are made 
     out of plastic, (delrin or teflon or something) and that the have a 
     tendency to crack and fail.  I heard at one point that the synchros 
     had been re-spec'd to be thicker for strength but I'm not sure if this 
     is true.  My point is that titanium would not be a good replacement 
     because it is too hard of a metal (I know that it IS a soft metal as 
     metals go, but not even close to brass).

Anyone think there could be a way to make/get titanium synchros?  Or 
would that just wear the gears faster...
