Re: Jetta Syncro

Hey,
From what I understand the Syncro system requires a different floorpan to
be welded in. This is atleast in the case of the A2s where I have seen
Corrado awds. In the case of the A3 it might be the case that they share
floorpans, but I doubt it. If so, installation would be much easier and
cheaper.
The hardest part of the install would most likely be acquiring the parts
from europe. After that install of a new floorpan is not to easily done
either. The good news is that I believe the Jetta shares floorpans with the
Golf and Golf Variant which both have Syncro available in europe. Best bet
there is to find a crunched one and ship it over as a parts car and go from
there. What is left of the car will need to be destroyed though due to
NHTSA guidelines. Still, if you can land a highline you can get alot of
stuff that might be saleable with it. Leather, BBS Solitude Wheels,
European front end and headlights, european front bumper, european
hatchback, vw wooden shifterknob, european suspension components (might
need them anyway for the swap) etc etc. Stuff like this could be resold at
a decent price due to the rarity to defray the cost of the crunched syncro
aquisition. Later-G
