New '99 GTI in US Details

Hey,
    Check out http://www.vwvortex.com as Jamie just got info from VWoA on
'99 models, including the Golf, Jetta and GTI models. The option packages
are more in line with the Passat, GLS has VR6 optional in the Jetta, and the
GLX Jetta gets a sport package to include sport seats and tinted taillights
etc, making the reg GLX more of a luxury car. I like this Audi A4 like set
of options. I hope the Passat gets a sport package eventually.
    As for GTI, looks like the same setup in a Golf 4 chassis. No 24V
Syncros yet, if VWV's info is correct. Perhaps they are not done being
developed, but the new GTI VR6 at 172hp should be up and running shortly
after the Detroit show, and the new Jetta before the end of the year. Go
