Okay, keep names out to protect the guilty. My father is a cop in a local
town here and one of his co-workers is the "Training Specialist" for LASER
detectors for like western NY. So I got talking to him one day and asked him
about how it all works and how good they are and what can be done to avoid
them and all that stuff. I will shorten this down but basically, they can
pick you off from about a mile or two away. Everyone asks well how accurate
is it. Well they calibrate them every day!! and they are accurate to the
foot in distance and .1 of a mph.

Being impressed I mentioned a laser detector...he told me that if a laser
detector is being used an error code 7 is returned and you are screwed
anyways. Its like a Laser Detector Detector. And he says it does usually
matter because, since they can grab ya from a mile away, well basically they
can check your speed 2 or 3 times before your little BEEPING goes off.

He also mentioned that they don't have to hit a lic plate, anywhere on the
car will work, and he did mention that Black Corvettes are the trickiest
cars.

This is just what I discussed with him, laws and devices may be different
for different areas or states.
