Car Of The Year/Indy Pace Car

Yes -- it's true! It was officially announced today that the New 
Beetle is Motor Trend's 1999 Import Car Of The Year. It's the first 
time since 1985, I believe, that VW's won the honor. In '85, it was 
the GTI.

Unrelated to MT but definitely related to VWs, reportedly a new Bug 
with over 340 horsepower will be on display at the North American 
International Auto Show in less than a month. It's said this may turn 
out to be an Indy 500 pace car.
