Re: GLX -Automatic ONLY?!?!?! What da &%$#

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but allow me this. I didn't mean to imply that a sequential gearbox was an automatic transmission. The point I was trying to make was the time that the actual shifts, with specific gear control, took in relation to the driver's shifting.  I was thinking along the lines of how a Tiptronic leans more towards the control that a sequential(YES I KNOW IT'S A %#&*)!@^ MANUAL!!!!!!) tranny gives you rather than a traditional automatic.
I may not have the most in-depth and accurate knowledge, I was just trying to share some personal experience on the matter.
Again, whatever makes you happy. ;-)

Personal preference is fine...Absolutely no problem..This is still America. But the "Tom-Foolery" has to stop.  You cannot be serious when you compare a Tip (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) to Top racing series' clutchless (MANUAL, yes MANUAL!!!!) Transmissions.  Would someone who has some indept and accuate knowledge on the differences, please share it. This topic has turned down the road of misinformation....

This whole issue is almost a mute point seeing as how it all comes down to personal preference anyway. But if I may I want to interject something that was said. "manual gives you more control, better acceleration..." Since all the top racing series; sport touring, WRC, scca, etc. and up, have cars that use a clutch less transmission, what basis does manual give you better control? Acceleration is simple gearing. While not an adjustment that can be changed easily, if geared correctly one can have an extremely quick car.
WIthout trying to sound cynical I think that what the individual wants is the most important thing. As long as you're happy more power to you!

Hey, you got to consider that while some people driver, others are
drivers, if you get my drift.  And the bottom line is, manual gives you
more control, better acceleration...  Pretty much all around better
performance.  That was his point, i believe.

But, also, i can understand your point about family cars... ;)

Sundie...
