RE: Neuspeed short shift

Uh, the kit for the VR6 isn't cheap, unless you think $400 is cheap. Here's
the deal: For A3's w/ a 4cyl. engine, the short shift kit is less than $50
(the tranny uses a shifter with rod type linkages). However, since the VR6
uses a cable shifter, the entire assembly must be replaced, ergo the
Neuspeed price. But what the heck do you do with the stock assembly once
you've installed the new kit? Well, that's why I like the AWE short shift
kit so much better. AWE does the core exchange program (you send them your
stock part, they send you the kit), so the price is much, much lower, like
$175. I think you need to make some kind of deposit when you do the exchange
($25-$50). Don't be fooled by the Neuspeed name--THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY THE
SAME KIT. So, now that you've decided, call Todd at AWE (1-888-565-2257) or
email him AWE16VR6@aol.com. Did Neuspeed just lose some more business |-) ?
I am not affiliated with AWE in any way other than as a satisfied customer.

BTW, I believe you can get the short shifter kit for 4-banger A3's at
parts4vws.com
