headunits

sorry everyone----i've just got to ask this.  i'm sure it's been asked 
about a million times....but i need to know.  i've spoken with all the 
car audio people around here, and everyone tells me a different story 
about installing an aftermarket headunit with the bose system (97 glx).  
if anyone has done this, could you please let me know what you installed, 
and what is necessary to obtain the best sound quality....i would prefer 
going through the factory amp.  i don't know much about car audio---so if 
you answer this question, could you please be specific as to what i 
need.  thanks a bunch.
