>Yes Mark Audi is recalling all of their cars with "pillows." I briefly
read the repair information and the repair procedure. We have to update the
earlier cars with the discaharge unit and reserve unit to the newer style
that is used in all the nwe Audis. With the newer system the VAG 1551 plugs
into the control unit instead of being accessed thru the "D" plug. The
reason I was told was thatif conditions are right static electricity could
cause the bag to blow. I am not looking forward to this recall because of
the location of the components and "What is going to break" on all the
older cars.
I believe ALL the manufacturers schedule these recalls as a way to get the
older cars back into the dealers and hopefully sell new cars. As I have
seen in many other recalls besides the regular customers we always get the
dregs of the earth who only come in for the Freebie and usually do the most
complaining after the recall is done.
With the dregs its always a site to see what kind of repairs these cars
have had performed by "Foreign Car Specialists" If we ever turned out some
of the things I have seen I am sure the customer would have driven the car
back thru our showroom window. But to these people the "Dealer" is a rip
off and they don't know anything. In the end the dregs keep paying and
paying. Go figure!

If you want more info I will get a copy of the recall info.
