News: VR5 variation

This week Autocar magazine confirmed that VW is testing a new 5 valve per
cylinder turbocharged VR5, for a sport range in the Skoda line. The total
hp output will be around 190hp and should propel the Skoda Felicia sedan
(basically an A4 Jetta w/ hatch style trunk) to 60 in an estimated 6.5
seconds (similar figures ot the Corrado SLC.
Whether this engine will make it into a VW, and an American VW at that
remains to be seen, but it might fit in nicely on the new sport coupe
apparently planned by VW. Also, consider this. If the VR5 comes with a 5
valve head, that probably means that a 5 valve variant of the VR6 will be
possible. Since VW is planning that VR6s come only with Syncro in the
future anyway, it is reasonable to deduce that they will not need to be as
conservative with hp since the chassis is not limited by front wheel drive.
	Imagine what a beast a 30V VR6T would be. Later-G
